A 19th-Century Farm with 21st-Century Sensibilities

Built to last, our Main House has graced the hills of Hermitage Farm since before the outbreak of the Civil War. We’ve striven to preserve its elegance and historic charm while refurbishing the interior to meet today’s living expectations. Seamlessly blending antique architecture and furniture with modern appliances and artwork, the Main House of Hermitage is a singularly unique destination on the plains of the Bluegrass.

Tour the Main House

When it’s not occupied by events or guests, the Main House is open for tours. Along with its adjacent Smokehouse, the Main House is listed in the National Historic Register. Step inside to view the wide-ranging collection of contemporary art shared by current owners Laura Lee Brown and Steve Wilson, who collaborated with Bittners, Louisville’s oldest continually-operating design firm, to create a relaxing canvas for visitors and overnight guests. From hand-drawn sketches to digital media, The Main House rotates its exhibitions, so you can find something new and different at nearly every visit.
